step 2.) In search field type in your name / names example "Home Solutions" or only one word for company name like "Microsoft" always leave the (.com) off searched name, again! insert your name in the search field and click submit query note. search settings are already correct and every trademark search must be started from the beginning / above.
Result One: If results say "NO TESS records were found in match" this means your "name" has no registered trademarks and you can now precede to file your own with no hasstles.

Basic Trademark Research: What-ever you are going to use the trademark name for is the key to this research, example I want a trademark for ( candles "R" us ) as in (candlesrus.com) for retail sales of candles on the internet, I find that there are 3 companies with a trademark on this name, the 1st company makes candle sticks, the 2nd company makes candle wicks and the 3rd company makes candle holders. Your results are positive / good for this research because there is no obvious infringement, you are a candle retailer / seller, the other companies are manufactures of candles and accessories, this information can be found out just by clicking on all the "live" trademark links from your search results, after this is done you can be confident to precede to file your trademark request, however!
